Winter Solstice Dec 21st!
It's exciting that today is the shortest day (daylight wise) and now the days will be getting longer. YAY!!!!! Today was a wonderful day, which is pretty much like everyday when we are dealing with our awesome magical creatures at Making Strides Equestrian.
These last few weeks have been a mix of my weather-70 degrees! and regular December mornings-30 degrees. The horses are a tiny bit confused on WHY they are wearing their own heavy fur coats in the 70 degree weather, yet 2 days later they find ice in their water troughs. Hmmmm.
All riders and horses are going as well as ever. I have a photo I need to upload to show off our Christmas spirit. We LOVE Christmas time!

Thanksgiving day
Hello friends & equestrians! Looks like there has been quite a gap since our last news update. It's crazy how busy our lives can get and how fast time slips by.
September ended on a great note and we happily moved into October. Lydia has learned the feeding system and picked up a ride on Spencer. Joy learned all the feeding shifts too and has been riding Spencer & Bradley, as well as giving Immy some one on one time.
Winnie competed on Fly in the w/t beginners at H/J Fox at the horse park in Conyers and placed 2nd & 3rd out of 10. This was a HUGE acomplishment for both of them! The following weekend they both competed again at the horse park for the AAHJA Finals and they placed 4th & 5th.
We ended October with Halloween and went right into November. November is an awesome month since my birthday is on the 14th. And of course we also have 'no stirrup' November as well. Winnie normally chooses to just go bareback since there are no stirrups. Andrea & Joy also picked up some bareback rides to go without their stirrups.
In other news, we had a cold snap and finally had to dress the ponies/ horses in their turn-out sheets. Nancy came to visit for the holiday and picked up 3 rides on Ben. Always great to see her! Andrea has been traveling back & forth to Birmingham, Cathy & Cindy have been riding on the weekends since daylight ends so quickly, Maddie picked up 3 rides on Copper on her holiday week, etc. And did I ever mention that I have the most precious 2 year old taking lessons? Kemmerson has been riding for a couple of months and she is so horse crazy. She is such a joy to share the world of ponies with.
I'm sure I have forgotten something or someone, and I'll update when I came. Until then, have a fantastic Thanksgiving!

Wow!!!! Almost 3 full months have slipped by without any news update! Where have I been??? Oh, that's right, I've been enjoying the summer and been enjoying being outside at the barn, not sitting around typing on a computer. :-)
Regardless, I do apologize for getting slack about the happenings of Making Strides Equestrian. We did not show any in July due to the heat, but we continued with our early and late lessons. And we spent more time letting the horses enjoy our pond. Copper likes to lay down in it!
Winnie has shown Fly a few times lately and 1 week ago they won a 4th and a 5th in their 2 classes. The week before that they won a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. They have 3 more shows coming up in October.
Cathy has been picking up some rides on Ben, Molly has been jumping both Spencer and Bradley, Tara has been doing some bareback rides, Cindy has mastered her recent goals on both Bradley & Spencer, etc. All the lessons are going as great as always!
Lydia moved into the house this summer and she has learned about feeding our horses and will be riding soon. Joy joined us this month and she is also learning about feeding and will also start riding. Ryan has been working all summer to keep the farm looking great.
We are wonderful here!

I can not believe that I did not post anything for the month of June. Big OOPS on my end!
As always, it was a great month. It seemed a little slow at first with Maddie, Emily,& Katie gone, but Rebecca picked up lessons while she is home from college and we gained another new team member, Tara. We competed at 1 horse show this month and Winnie & Fly won a 1st & 3rd. Cathy schooled both Ziggy & Bradley around & Aubrey competed in a crossrail class on Ziggy. The weather has been quite Hot, but now we've replaced that with tons of rain for the last 2 days. And I've started allowing the horses to play in the pond to cool off. So much fun!
I hope everyone has a great Holiday and welcome to July!

Happy May everyone!
Seems like I have a ton of things to mention since I last updated. First of all, we did not make it to the April AAHJA show. The rain came and moved the show to the following weekend, and we were in North Carolina that weekend for Winnie's vaulting competition. Winnie won Reserve Champion by winning 3 seconds & 1 third in her division. April brought us lots of rain at the farm, so we are expecting to see lots of May flowers (and grass!). May brings us to the summer time for my college students. Maddie & Emily are leaving for a 2 week back packing trip in Europe. Katie is leaving for an internship which will help with her vet school applications in the future. Juli graduated from vet school and is moving back home to South Carolina to work. Kristina decided to stay busy by taking on a project horse, Molly will leave us in the fall for her doctorate program at prestigious Cambridge (!), and Corey is moving from Athens to Canada (Waterloo!). Whew!
Even though so many are away, we also have new faces. Meredith & Anna have joined our riding team, younger Claire has started lessons, and Cindy has started lessons. Caitlyn is hoping to pick up some barn work and working student knowledge, and Shelana is hoping to pick up some barn work. And Ryan has started general farm maintenance to keep the whole place looking awesome.
I'm looking forward to a great summer!
