Hello everyone! Happy end of school and welcome to the summer!!!!
I love, love, love, this time of year. It's a little sad because a handful of our regular riders seem to have summer plans, but it's also a little exciting because new riders sometimes join us for the summer. (Maddie heads to Europe for 1/2 the summer for school, Rachael heads to Virginia for the whole summer for a riding internship, Laura heads to NC to run the riding program at a summer camp, and Abby heads to Miami to visit her father for the summer).
Another FUN thing going on is that I have a NEW HOUSE! We've been getting things updated and ready for the past month and now it's time to share the exciting features with you. I have 4 stalls available at my home property for boarders now. I also have 3 of my retired horses here. And because 3 of my horses are here, this opened up 4 stalls at the normal Making Strides Equestrian barn. Tell your friends to come board with us! Lots of openings right now.

Looks like I'm getting busy enjoying the spring weather, because I haven't updated since March 8th. And I also didn't change the main page from "March" to "APRIL" until today, 14 days into April. OOPS!
Maybe tomorrow or the next day I'll update what's been going on the past month. Tonight is just a quick post. Stay tuned!

I can't believe I didn't get to the website yesterday to say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAGNUM" ! He turned 37 yesterday.
It was a beautiful day (seems to be every year) and we were at the barn most of the day. Tara had another fantastic jumping lesson on Spencer, Winnie had a great bareback ride on Fly, and Maddie had a wonderful ride on Ben. A beautiful birthday day.

Hi everyone! I took a break from posting all of January & February because I loved the huge picture of Copper below, and I felt he deserved to be the center of attention for at least 2 months. I loved my Copper, such a great horse.
January & February were otherwise very normal. Great weather days mixed with rainy days, but we were able to ride in between and the horses stayed in work. Rachael joined our team and picked up giving Ben some work-outs. We had our annual Christmas in January party (in February), we attended the AAHJA annual awards banquet, we celebrated Valentine's day and Tommy's birthday, and I took a vacation to Jamaica.
March is always a favorite month of mine. Both my babies, Magnum & Winnie, have birthdays this month. It is also the month that I purchased Magnum in, Westley has a birthday, Easter is in March this year, horse shows in Athens begin, and of course it makes me think spring time.
Happy March everyone!

Tonight was a very sad evening at Making Strides Equestrian. I had to say good bye to Copper, (Easy Hi Stride). He was a total rock star and one of my favorite horses. This was my first time having to put down one of my personal horses. He would have turned 23 in May.
He will be remembered for so many things, I can not say enough good things about him. He was a companion to Fly at the horse shows, he was Maddie's main ride, he was my hunter pace/ trail ride/ mock fox hunt partner, he had the smoothest trot, I would trot him bareback when I was 8 months pregnant, he was ridden bridleless, he was Rebecca's beginner show horse and later she rode him in 18" jumping classes, he loved to go in the pond and lie down, he let Winnie do her vaulting practice on him, he bucked quite a few riders off and liked to throw silliness in for quite a few others. I could go on and on with the memories.
He will truly be missed.
(He was put down due to colic).

Hello everyone and welcome to 2016! I am going to try and update the website more frequently this year, but no promises since barn life keeps me busy.
2015 was a wonderful year filled with great students and lots of good riding. Our horses were stars like we expected, and we had pretty good weather all year.
Please enjoy visiting our website and keeping up with us.
